Nicole Christina, LCSW
I am an experienced psychotherapist practicing in Upstate New York. I specialize in food and body issues, grief, depression, anxiety and positive aging. Sessions are held virtually.
As clinical social worker, I see people as individuals, but individuals that are affected by the environment in which they live. This is particularly relevant for women who have clear culturally defined roles they are expected to follow. Many of my clients struggle with the constrictions of our culture’s expectations of them as women, partners and mothers.
I keep current on mental health research, particularly related to the factors which contribute to our moods and behavior. I often recommend practices which integrate brain and body because they are effective in stabilizing our moods. I am a fan of yoga, walking, EFT (tapping), rebounding (mini-trampoline) and good nutrition. I also like the app Headspace and Health Journeys.
I try my best to follow my own recommendations on leading a balanced life, and managing my own stress. To this end, I pay attention to eating whole foods, exercise and pleasure. I am an avid tennis player, knitter, dog lover and nature lover. I feel very fortunate to have a job which brings me deep meaning and satisfaction.
